Much like the 1930s, when rural America was left behind in the push for electricity, many communities today face the same challenge with broadband access. In response to that need nearly a century ago, local residents formed electric cooperatives—like North East Mississippi Electric Power Association—to bring power to rural homes and farms, transforming everyday life.
That same spirit of progress and service led to the creation of North East Fiber, LLC (NE SPARC) in 2019. A subsidiary of North East Power, NE SPARC launched a bold effort to bridge the digital divide by building a fiber-to-the-home network for north Mississippi. By the spring of 2022, we had made high-speed internet available to all North East Power members, as well as areas of Pontotoc and Union Counties outside the service area.
